Overview
- Invoice templates can be renamed to show differences or be deleted if they're no longer relevant.
Rename an invoice template
Invoice templates are called branding themes in Xero. When you set up multiple templates, give each one a unique name so you can differentiate between them when applying a template to a transaction.
To change the name of a template:
- Click the organisation name, select Settings, and then click Invoice settings.
- Find the template you want to update, click Options, and select Edit.
- In the Name field, update the name. You can use a combination of letters, numbers, punctuation and spaces up to 30 characters long.
- Click Save.
Delete an invoice template
If the invoice template that you're trying to delete is already in use, you'll be prompted to replace it with another template.
- Click the organisation name, select Settings, and then click Invoice settings.
- (Optional) If you’re deleting a DOCX template, download it first so you don’t lose the template.
- Find the template you want to delete, click Options, and then select Delete.
- If the template hasn’t been used before, click Delete to confirm. If it's still being used on transactions, select another invoice template to replace it and click Delete & Replace.
