If you're missing a bank statement line or can't import it, manually mark a transaction as reconciled.
Only manually mark a transaction as reconciled if you can't import the original bank statement data from the bank, either manually or via a feed. This is because Xero creates a new bank statement line to reconcile against the account transaction.
About mark as reconciled
-
When you mark an account transaction as reconciled, Xero creates a new bank statement line to reconcile the transaction against.
-
There could be a number of reasons why there are missing transactions in your bank account. Check why transactions don’t match your bank account before you mark a transaction as reconciled.
-
If the actual bank statement line shows in the bank account and the transaction is manually marked as reconciled, your bank balance won't match online banking due to a duplicate bank statement line.
-
The new bank statement line displays in the Bank statements tab of the bank account, and has User in the Bank Transaction Source column.
-
Enable or disable mark as reconciled in the Account transactions tab of any bank account. This turns the feature on for all bank accounts for your login only. Each user in the organisation needs to enable this for their own login.

Identify transactions manually marked as reconciled
How transactions display
Account transactions that have been manually marked as reconciled show as User in the Bank Transaction Source column in your bank account's Account transactions tab.
Bank statement lines created using mark as reconciled show in the Bank statements tab of the bank account, with User in the Bank Transaction Source column.
Duplicate bank statement lines
If you manually mark a transaction as reconciled and import the actual bank statement line, this creates a duplicate bank statement line.
To identify duplicate bank statement lines, go to the Bank statements tab of the bank account. If duplicates are created, delete the bank statement line that shows as User in the Bank Transaction Source column.
