Overview
  • Create an estimate for your customer from a quote using an advanced invoice template.

Create an estimate

  1. Create an advanced invoice template and name it Estimate.

  2. Change the headings for Draft Quote title and Quote title to Estimate.

  3. Click Download to download a copy of your template.

  4. Open the DOCX template file, then change Quote Number to Estimate Reference.

  5. Save the file and upload it back into your invoice template in Xero.

  6. Create a new quote, open a draft, or edit a sent one.

  7. In the Branding theme field, select your new Estimate template.

  8. Click Save or Update to keep your changes.

The changes to your advanced invoice template only apply to the quote when you print or email the quote.

Change an estimate to a quote

If your customer asks for an official quote or accepts the job from the estimate, change the estimate back into a quote.

  1. In Xero, find and open your quote.

  2. Click the menu icon , then select Revise.

  3. In the Branding theme field, select your standard invoice template.

  4. Click Update to keep your changes.
